Meet Our Donors

On behalf of St. Andrew's Episcopal School, we would like to thank all of our current donors for their generosity and support. Here are some of their stories.

Carter and Fran Keithley

Carter and Fran Keithley
Our involvement with St. Andrew's Episcopal School enabled us to be closely included in the lives of our boys, and those years were exceptionally rewarding and memorable for us. St. Andrew's is a wonderful environment and community.

Fran and I are far from wealthy, but we have been blessed with reasonable prosperity. We remain mindful that our good fortune is an unearned blessing and that we are merely stewards of the prosperity bestowed upon us. We are also mindful that, while St. Andrew's may have achieved a necessary level of permanence and stability, it has a long way to go to acquire the assets it needs to fulfill its destiny as a leading independent school in the Washington area.

Therefore, we decided that a portion of our assets could provide a final, lasting and very welcome gift that will help reinforce the future of an institution that we so thoroughly believe in and support. We are confident that the sum we leave to St. Andrew's will be meaningful to the school, and will advance a cause we deeply support. I hope others will feel the same.

Cora and Murray Simpson

Cora and Murray Simpson
Cora and Murray Simpson have been involved with St. Andrew's since its earliest days in 1981, when Cora joined the school as Assistant Admission Director. When Scott Simpson graduated in 1983, Cora continued in Admissions for five more years. She then served as a trustee and Board Secretary for 1993 to 1999.

Says Murray Simpson, "We've seen St. Andrew's progress. It's quite astonishing. We recognized that its fundraising needs deserved our priority and that although St. Andrew's didn't have a large constituent base to help it move forward, together with others we could help make a difference."

Alaster and Sue MacDonald

Alaster and Sue MacDonald
My wife Sue and I made a planned gift to St. Andrew's in 1998. There were a number of factors that influenced our decision:

I've been associated with St. Andrew's for almost twenty years - as a teacher and a trustee, and now as a friend of the school (history teacher 1986-1999; trustee, 1989-2001). Throughout this experience it has been gratifying to see so many youngsters grow to fully confident students. The care, support and opportunities they experienced at St. Andrew's is the medium for tremendous growth.

From my experience on the Board, I realized how really restricted we were by our lack of endowment when we were trying to accomplish the move to this campus. All current donations could only serve that immediate need. We only had a tiny endowment.

Planned giving can build endowment. I think everyone should consider making a bequest or other planned gift to the school - in whatever way suits their family situation - because it's very important for the school to know that there's a future stream of support, and permanent support to accomplish St. Andrew's important goals.

Leslie Kohn Finn (1945-1993)
For the late Leslie Kohn Finn (1945-1993), the decision to make a bequest to St. Andrew’s Episcopal School was simple. She felt strongly about schools, especially those that had educated her children. “Our boys have been blessed with teachers who connected with them,” explains Dr. Terence Finn, her husband. “They blossomed at St. Andrew’s, and Leslie knew how important faculty was to our children’s education.

Leslie Kohn Finn’s gift, the first planned gift declared to St. Andrew’s, set a long-lasting standard for the community.
